An innovative arts show which captured the attention of more than 11,000 people last year is set to return.
Peterhead-based circus troupe Theatre Modo will return to Aden Country Park on Friday evening for a night of fireworks and parades to kick-start Halloween.
The now annual Aden-een event transforms the park in Mintlaw into a massive showground of lights and sound, and has been praised by participants and local councillors for the work it does involving the area’s children.
This year, the event will be themed to celebrate the works of William Shakespeare on his 400th birthday.
A spokesman for Theatre Modo said crews will begin transforming the country park over the next few days.
“A huge amount of planning and hard work is involved backstage in order for the event to be both spectacular and safe,” he added.
“Taking part this year are drama groups from Fraserburgh, Mintlaw and Peterhead Academy, as well as performances from Peterhead Youth Theatre, Lawrence Dance Academy, Mutiny Tribal Belly Dancers, Alberto’s Commedia dell’Arte groups, Serena Wilson School of Dance and Aberdeen Fire Spinners.”
Youngsters trained by Theatre Modo from Fraserburgh, Mintlaw and Peterhead will also perform.
The parade at the park starts promptly at 6.30pm.
The first of the fireworks will light up the sky about an hour later.
Motorists have been warned, however, that traffic restrictions on Newlands Road and Station Road could make parking difficult, and are asked to leave in plenty of time to secure a space within the park grounds.
Entry to the event is £2 for adults and £1 for children under the age of 16.
The event is not recommended for children under five and dogs will not be allowed within the park.
