A shortlist of names for a new multimillion pound secondary school in the south of Aberdeen has been unveiled.
The £47million development, currently known as the South of the City Academy, will replace the current Kincorth and Torry academies and is due to be completed by June 2018.
And now opinions are being sought on what the Redmoss Road school will be called when the doors open to pupils.
The shortlist – made up of suggestions by eight local schools – is: Wellington Academy, Lochside Academy, Altens Academy, Redmoss Academy and Calder Academy.
The schools are holding referenda to choose the most popular name, and local residents and the four community councils are also being asked to vote online or by post.
Angela Taylor, education convener said: “It’s great that current and future pupils plus the local community are being asked to choose the name for this fantastic new educational facility.”
Facilities at the new school will include a dance studio, fitness suite, games hall, six lane swimming pool, an adjacent garden and 3G pitch.
It will cater for up to 1,350 pupils from the Torry, Kincorth, Nigg and Cove areas and will replace the existing Torry and Kincorth Academies.

Alternatively, a postal entry can be sent to: New School Name, Education and Children’s Services, Aberdeen City Council, Business Hub 13, Second Floor North, Marischal College, Broad Street, Aberdeen, AB10 1AB.
The voting ends at 5pm on November 4 and the announcement will be made shortly after.
