Police have confirmed the identity of a man who was found murdered in his Aberdeen home.

Officers were called to a property in Arnage Place at around 5am this morning  following concerns for a 26-year-old man.

The body of Robert Reid was discovered inside by officers and paramedics.

He was pronounced dead at the scene and is believed to be the male that concern was expressed about.

His family are aware.

A major investigation to establish the full circumstances surrounding the murder is ongoing and police are appealing for information from the public.

Detective Inspector Gary Winter, from the force’s Major Investigation Team who is leading the investigation, said: “Firstly, our thoughts are with Robert’s family who are still coming to terms with his death. There’s no doubt that this incident will cause concern within the community, however I would like to stress that we are treating this as an isolated and contained matter.

“I would also like to thank the public for their patience while this incident is being dealt with. There will be a visible Police presence in the area as we continue with our enquiries, including house to house, CCTV and forensic examination and I would again ask for the public’s patience.

“Our investigation is still at an early stage and I would urge anyone with information to contact Police on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111 if you would prefer to remain anonymous.”
