A charity fireworks event in the north-east has raised more than £4,000 to support the battle against urological cancers.
The annual Fireworks Against Cancer, hosted at New Deer’s show ground, supports the charity Ucan based at Aberdeen Royal Infirmary.
More than 3,000 people attended the event on Saturday, and organisers have revealed £4,118 in total was raised.
The fireworks display was accompanied by an orchestral soundtrack and video game music to entertain revellers of all ages.
Miss Grampian Galaxy Emma Watson started the countdown before Ucan representative Alasdair Brodie spoke about the impact the charity can have on the lives of patients.
The event was entirely paid for by sponsorship so that all donations can be given to the Ucan fund.
Last night organiser John Burdon said: “We had a terrific turnout again this year and in total we raised £4,117.97 and one smiley supermarket trolley token.
“The evening is now firmly established as a calendar event and we look forward to meeting visitors old and new at the next firework spectacular on October 21, 2017.”
In the three years the event has been held Fireworks Against Cancer has raised more than £10,000 for Ucan.
Mr Burdon added: “A big thank you to everyone once again. Anyone interested in helping at the event, with event sponsorship or general comments to improve and expand the activities during the evening can contact us via our website at www.fireworksagainstcancer.org.”
