A petition to reopen an Aberdeen road after a bus gate was installed will be presented to the council on Monday.
The measure, introduced on Bedford Road in June, allows only buses and cyclists to access part of the route.
The road has been permanently closed to all other traffic between Meston Walk and Hermitage Avenue.
Critics have branded the scheme, close to Kittybrewster Retail Park, “inconvenient”, “ridiculous” and “crazy”.
Angry residents say the move has led to severe traffic delays in the area and many are now backing the campaign to have it removed.
The petition was started by Tillydrone resident Gillian Lawson, who said the closure was causing “massive chaos” in the area
Now, after gathering more than 3,000 signatures, she will hand it to the council.
It is expected it will be heard by councillors on the local authority’s petitions committee in January.
Committee convener Alan Donnelly said they would first need to check that the signatures came from residents of the city.
He said those in favour of scrapping the bus gate would have about 10 minutes to present their case.
He added: “We have three choices.
“We can refuse it, refer it to a standing committee, or we can put it to a third party, which could include Transport Scotland.”
Councillors have also been asked to approve a report tomorrow considering the options for allowing taxis to have access to all bus gates in Aberdeen.
The online petition states: “The residents of St Machar, Tillydrone, Old Aberdeen, Seaton & other residents North of Bedford road have been “cut off” from George st, Kittybrewster retail park, Berryden retail park.
