A five-man crew were rescued after their fishing vessel broke down off the north-east coast.
The fishermen called for help when their boat Consortium lost power and hydraulics three miles south-east of Peterhead on Friday night.
The RNLI volunteer crew and lifeboat The Misses Robertson of Kintail launched from Peterhead to recover the boat at 9.50pm.
And the rescue vessel was able to successfully tow the fishing boat and crew back to Peterhead harbour.
Last night, an RNLI spokesman said: “The Peterhead Tamar Lifeboat ‘The Misses Robertson of Kintail’ was requested to launch by Aberdeen Coastguard on Friday, October 28 at 9.50pm with its volunteer crew.
“[This was] to assist a broken-down 83-foot fishing boat Consortium with five male occupants on board, lying three nautical miles south-east of Peterhead.
“The lifeboat took the casualty in tow, and recovered it to a berth inside Peterhead harbour.”
The visibility during the rescue operation was good and sea conditions were described as a “three-foot swell”.
The spokesman added: “The crew of the Consortium expressed their gratitude, and praised the lifeboat crew for a job well done.”
Consortium was returned to Peterhead harbour at 12.15am and the volunteer lifeboat crew was stood down.
