Emergency services were called to Kintore Cemetery shortly before 2pm following reports that a man was trapped in a grave. The walls of the grave had collapsed around a man in his mid 20s and he was buried up to his knees. She added he was trapped by his legs. Two fire engines and a rescue unit from Aberdeen and Inverurie attended, with 16 firefighters working to free the man. Inverurie Watch Manager Graeme Duncan said: “The ground appeared to be very sandy and that’s likely to have caused the sides to cave in. “Others working at the graveyard tried to help him initially, before they called the fire service for assistance.” An ambulance crew is also at the scene. A Scottish Ambulance Service spokesman said the fire teams have freed the man and he’s been taken to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary in a stable condition. There are no details about his injuries at this time.
