With the ghosts and ghouls gone for another year, a north-east cancer charity has launched its very first festive fundraising campaign.
Friends of Anchor has unveiled its Christmas countdown, Festive with Friends, with the aim of encouraging people across the region to hold their own yuletide fundraising events for the charity.
The group will then use the cash to support the Aberdeen Royal Infirmary’s Anchor unit.
Caty Smith, senior charge nurse on the unit, said: “We hope that as many people as possible can get involved with Festive with Friends and show their support for a cause that is close to so many people’s hearts in the north-east of Scotland.
“In the Anchor Unit, we see day in day out the difference that the support that Friends of Anchor makes to our patients. We are incredibly grateful to every single fundraiser, donor and supporter of Friends of Anchor. Without their immense generosity, we would not be able to provide the level of care and support to the patients in the way that we do so thank you.”
Everyone who signs up will receive a pack to kick start their support for the Anchor unit.
The pack is full of resources including Christmas bingo cards, a step-by-step guide to making wreaths, decorations and a list of event ideas.
It also includes Christmas cupcake recipes, and canape and cocktail guides.
Sarah-Jane Hogg, fundraising manager, added: “Christmas is the time for giving so what better way to get in the festive spirit than getting work colleagues, neighbours of friends and family together to raise vital funds for the Anchor unit.”
The campaign will run over the next 55 days. To sign up for a pack contact the fundraising team at foa@balmoral.co.uk, or 01224 859170.
