A gunman who raided an Aberdeen city centre shop this week is still being hunted by police.
The thief targeted Icon Stores, on Aberdeen’s George Street, just after it opened on Monday.
Police said he went into the shop, brandishing a firearm, and demanded money from a terrified staff member.
Yesterday, officers carried out door-to-door inquiries in the area which continued into the night.
Detective Inspector Lee Jardine, who is leading the investigation, said: “I would like to take this opportunity to reassure local people and the wider public that officers are doing everything possible to trace the individual involved.
“Although a weapon was presented no one was hurt, however this does not take anything away from how frightening this would have been.
“Police have been in the area throughout the day carrying out inquiries, and we are committing extensive resources and analysing CCTV to gather all information available to us.”
DI Jardine is also appealing for anyone who passes through the street or lives or travels through nearby Powis Place to come forward if they witnessed anything suspicious.
He has also urged anyone with CCTV, dashcam, or GoPro footage available to get in touch with officers.
“At the time this incident happened commuters will have been travelling in cars, buses and even bicycles to work and it could be that you saw someone or something suspicious at the time but didn’t think anything of it,” he added.
The suspect is described as being white, slim and around 5ft 8in to 5ft 10in. He is thought to be in his late teens or early 20s.
He was wearing a dark waterproof hooded jacket, dark tracksuit bottoms, with the hood pulled around his face.
Anyone who has any information should contact police on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
