These images show the conditions faced by a group of north-east rescuers in the Cairngorms today.
The Braemar Mountain Rescue Team took these images of the snow-capped peak of Beinn Mheadhoin.
With more snow forecast for the hills this coming weekend, the group has warned anyone heading for a walk to make sure they have the “suitable kit and skills”.
Beinn Mheadhoin, a munro, is one of the remotest mountains in the Cairngorms and can be accessed from Glen Derry or the Cairn Gorm plateau.
According to the Mountain Weather Information Service (MWIS), there will be frequent snow and hail showers throughout the weekend.
The service has forecast “heavy snow” for between two to three hours in the afternoon, coming as far east as Lochnagar.
It adds that whiteouts are possible, but areas below 1,640ft will experience rain.
The Met Office said cold air feeding in from the Arctic over the coming days.
“Temperatures struggling to reach double figures in many places by Sunday,” the forecaster added.
