Three men have been charged following a spate of thefts across the north-east.
The 18-year-old and two 20-year-olds are expected to appear at Aberdeen Sheriff Court today in connection with 24 charges relating to “acquisitive crimes”.
The alleged offences took place between October and November in Aberdeen, Aberdeenshire and Moray at locations including Tarland, Lossiemouth, Elgin, Rothienorman, Bieldside and Peterhead, and involved the theft of numerous motor cars, theft from motor cars, theft of number plates and theft by housebreakings.
Detective Inspector Stuart McAdam said: “I would like to thank members of the public who provided us with information and assistance.”
He added: “Officers in the north-east are committed to tackling acquisitive crime under Operation Magpie. I would also continue to urge people to assist us by ensuring your properties, vehicles and valuables are locked and secure at all times in the first place.
