A north-east woman isn’t stalling on an attempt to raise money for Aberdeen’s intensive care unit.
Nicola Timmins lost her father, Alexander Wilson, three years ago following complications after routine surgery.
He spent 11 days in Aberdeen Royal Infirmary’s ICU and Mrs Timmins is determined to do her best to thank staff for helping her family get through a difficult time.
The 33-year-old and her friends have organised a market sale at Peterhead’s Waterside Inn on November 19.
Stallholders will be selling new and used baby items, including clothing and toys.
Last night, Mrs Timmins said the ICU was a place everybody hoped they would never need.
She added: “But my dad was really well looked after there.
“There was a collection at his funeral and the money went there, but we’ve always wanted to do something more.
“They are second-to-none and we hope the money will go towards something there, either for patients or for their families.”
A total of 24 stallholders have already signed up to take part during the fundraising drive. And Mrs Timmins revealed £580 had already been pledged.
She said: “We’re now trying to get the news out there to get people to come and support it.
“It’s a good cause and the ICU is an amazing facility that’s on our doorstep.
“You’ll never want to need it, but it is there if you do, and the staff there are worth their weight in gold.”
Mr Wilson died following pancreatic surgery.
He was in Aberdeen Royal Infirmary for four days prior to being moved to its ICU.
Mrs Timmins added: “Unfortunately, it wasn’t the best outcome for us – but he certainly had the best of care while he was there.
The event will run from 10.30am to 1pm.
Entry is £1.
