One of Aberdeen’s most popular festive fixtures is to go ahead despite last year’s event being washed out by strong wind and rain.
2015’s ‘Nippy Dipper’ Boxing Day Dip had to be cancelled and rescheduled due to bad weather after Storm Frank battered the north-east.
The 2016 ‘Nippy Dipper’ will take place on Boxing Day morning at 10:30am opposite the Beach Leisure Centre.
According to ‘Super Special Lifeguard Leo’, “The Dip is a fantastic way to blow away the Christmas cobwebs, have some fun and raise money for local good causes.”
Despite being rescheduled last year, around 95 ‘Nippy Dippers’ persevered to raise almost £15,000 for a wide variety of deserving causes.
Lions Club President, Chris Southworth said: “This is a charity dip, with part of the participation fee going to the Lord Provost’s Charitable Trust (the Lions nominated charity).
“It is unique in Scotland in that dippers are also encouraged to raise funds for their own chosen charity or non-profit group.
“Dippers can take part singly or in teams and many make it a fun event by wearing Fancy Dress. We hope many people will register again this year to take part.”
