Firefighters were forced to step in last night after a bonfire in a north-east town got out of control.
Spectators watched on in horror at the Gadle Braes event in Peterhead while the flames spread to the lamp posts on the nearby street.
One fire engine had been on standby at the event but a spokesman for the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service confirmed this morning that a call was put in for a back up shortly before 8pm.
Crews used one jet and a hose reel jet to bring the blaze under control and they were stood down at 12.30am.
It was the second year running that fire crews were forced to take action at the Peterhead event in similar circumstances.
