House prices in Aberdeen have fallen by £20,000 in just one year, while prices across Scotland continue to rise.
New figures show the Granite City has been hit hard by the prolonged slump in oil prices, with the average price of a home in September £171,995 – down from £191,769 the same time last year.
The Orkney Isles enjoyed the highest house price growth across the UK with an increase of 20.6%, bringing the average price to £144,000.
Overall prices in Scotland rose by an average of 3.4% according to the data from Registers of Scotland, but this was less than half the UK level of 7.7%
The average price of a Scottish property was £143,000 compared to around £217,888 across the UK.
Registers of Scotland director of commercial services Kenny Crawford, said: “The percentage increases in average house prices in Scotland, while below the UK average, have been showing steady growth, with month-on-month increases in every month this year apart from February.”
