A north-east school will be closed tomorrow after it was broken into and damaged this weekend.
Police were called to Markethill Primary School in Turriff at around 5pm today.
Officers are currently in attendance at the school carrying out an investigation.
A number of items were stolen from the building.
A police spokesman said: “We have units there at the moment.
“Crime officers are at the school carrying out forensic examinations.
“It appears there is damage within and items have also been stolen.
“Inquiries are continuing to be carried out.”
A spokesman for Aberdeenshire Council said: “We apologise for any inconvenience caused.”
The school will be closed to pupils and staff.
