A historic bridge undergoing a £530,000 reconstruction will be closed overnight this weekend.
Rob Roy Bridge in Peterculter is to be closed from 6am on Saturday to 8pm Sunday.
There will be signposted alternative routes for traffic via the B9077 South Deeside Road while the essential work takes place.
The reconstruction works started on the bridge in June and they are required to safeguard its future structural stability.
An Aberdeen City Council spokeswoman said: “We apologise for any inconvenience to motorists while these essential works are being carried out to the bridge.”
The original masonry arch is circa 1800 and the arch beam or column north section is circa 1920. The works involve the demolition of the reinforced concrete section of the bridge, which will be rebuilt to modern standards.
Emergency vehicles will be able to cross under supervision when the bridge is closed and pedestrians will be allowed across at all times for access to, for example, the restaurant.
The works to the bridge were coordinated to take place at the same time along with the programme of works for the Aberdeen Western Peripheral Route to keep disruption to the travelling public to a minimum.
