A busy Aberdeen roundabout will close tonight after a manhole collapsed on a water main.
Motorists have been warned to avoid the area from East North Steet going to Virginia street.
The busy roundabout, which is located near Aberdeen Beach, is expected to see significant traffic this Black Friday and delays are now believed to be likely.
A spokesman for Aberdeen City Council said: “Work to repair a manhole collapse on a water main overnight will mean the closure to the East North Street/Beach Boulevard roundabout to remain until the morning.
“The closure will require all vehicles from East North Street and Park Street to be diverted down the Beach Boulevard to the Beach Ballroom and back up the Boulevard before filtering into one lane to gain access into Commerce Street and Virginia Street.
“Motorists are advised to avoid the area if possible”.
The work should be completed and the roundabout re-opened at 9am tomorrow, weather permitting.
