Two people have been taken to hospital after being involved in a two car crash on a north-east road.
Emergency services were called to the A937 Laurencekirk to Marykirk road near Balmanno farm at around 6.20pm following reports of a crash between a black Ford Ka and a gray Vauxhall Corsa.
The fire service sent two units to the scene from Montrose and a total of 12 firefighters used cutting gear to free one woman from the Ford Ka and a man from the Vauxhall Corsa.
The two were then transported to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary.
A police spokeswoman said injuries were not life-threatening.
She said: “Two people were taken to hospital after the crash on the A937.
“The injuries were not life-threatening.
“We left at 9pm and the road was reopened.”
