The new chairman of the RNLI said it was an “honour” to meet the volunteers at a north-east lifeboat station.
Stuart Popham visited Fraserburgh’s RNLI branch last week during a quickfire tour of Scotland’s stations.
And now, the charity’s new chief has spoken about his day with the team.
Mr Popham said: “I’m honoured to be given such a fantastic opportunity. I look forward to getting to know even more about the RNLI and meeting so many more of the staff and volunteers.”
Mr Popham, who was previously vice-chairman of the organisation, was met by coxswain Victor Sutherland and members of the station’s crew and management.
Mr Sutherland added: “He was very down to earth, very easy to speak to and a good listener. He had done his homework and knew quite a bit about the station’s history and record.
“We discussed how we saw the RNLI developing during the next few years and found we were on the same wavelength.”
The lifeboat’s new operations manager, Hamish Partridge, was equally enthusiastic.
He said: “It was fantastic to meet the chairman of the RNLI on his visit to the station and a real benefit for myself being so new to the role.”
Mr Popham was given a tour aboard the Trent-Class lifeboat Willie and May Gall.
