The family of talented curry chef Shahzad Shah last night said they were still trying to come to terms with his death.
The devoted dad had left his family – wife of 20 years Syeda Naila and 10-year-old twins Ali and Shehr – in Sheikhupura, Punjab and regularly sent his earnings home to them.
His widow said that without her husband’s support, she and the children now face being destitute.
She said: “What am I supposed to do or even feel?
“Yes, Ozden has admitted his guilt but my children and I have no one to provide for us.
“My husband was working in Scotland to provide for all of us and now that has gone. This man’s admission of guilt will achieve nothing for us.
“These last months have been very bad for our family. We have been distraught since his death.
“My children still cry about it. It has been very bad for us.”
Syeda Naila admitted she was struggling to see a way forward for the family.
“I am still in shock over my husband’s death, and I sometimes still expect to see him come home to us,” she said.
“I have not been able to grieve properly as when his body was brought back to Pakistan, I was not allowed to see him.
“We were not able to celebrate our wedding anniversary and he will not be here for my birthday or his children’s birthdays.
“I’m still struggling to come to terms with this.”
