One of the best-known festive songs has begun to appear in sculpture form in Aberdeen.
Chainsaw wood carvers are transforming a dozen two-tonne trunks into each of the groups from The 12 Days of Christmas.
The first six are now on display at prominent city centre locations – with the rest to follow soon.
Artists Garry Shand and Simon Archer have been working flat out on the works, which are each more than six feet tall.
So far they can be seen at: Castlegate: A Partridge in a Pear Tree, Christmas Village: Two Turtle Doves, Union Terrace Gardens: Three French Hens, Marischal College: Four Calling Birds, The Green: Five Gold Rings, Union Square: Six Geese A Laying.
City Council depute leader Marie Boulton said: “It is great to be supporting local artists and for their work to be engaging with a new audience at the heart of the city. The initial pieces have been very well received and there is great interest in the trail as it continues to expand through the festive period.
“The sculptures are a fantastic addition to this year’s plans and also an investment for the future. They will be a key part in Winter Festival programmes for years to come as we will be able to bring them out and locate them in different parts of the city to create a fresh trail each year.”
The sculpture trail will be on display until the end of this month.
