A man and two young girls have been taken to hospital after a serious crash just north of an Aberdeenshire town.
The emergency services were called to the scene of the incident on an unclassified road just off the A948 Ellon to Auchnagatt road at 6.30pm.
One vehicle came off the road, which leads to Drumwhindle.
The road was closed at the junction with the A948 for several hours and motorists were asked to use an alternative route in the mean time. It re-opened at around 1am.
Seven resources from the ambulance service, including a special operations response team, a duty manager, three ambulances and a BASICS GP were in attendance.
A police spokesman said a 43-year-old man and two girls, aged 12 and 14, were in the car at the time of the collision. He said all three had been taken to hospital.
A Scottish Ambulance Service spokesman said one of the occupants was in a critical condition but could not confirm which one.
