Tributes have been paid to a north-east teenager who died after her family car crashed into a burn.
It is understood Kirsten Duguid from Ellon was travelling with her father and younger sister when the accident happened on Friday.
Emergency services were called to an unclassified road near the Mains of Arnage outside Ellon at around 6.20pm after reports a silver Audi A3 had overturned.
The three occupants were taken to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary (ARI) but police confirmed yesterday Miss Diguid had died.
Yesterday her family paid tribute to the 14-year-old, saying her “kindness, generosity and kind hearted spirit touched many” and she would be sorely missed.
Ellon Hockey Club expressed their “deepest condolences” to the family.
They said yesterday: “When her mother phoned me this morning she said that Kirsten had been very much looking forward to playing in the Under 14 Festival tomorrow. Kirsten will be sadly missed by us all at the club. We have withdrawn from the Festival as a mark of respect. Rest in peace Kirsten.”
Friends of the family also paid tribute to the teenager online.
Sheila Tough said: “What a tragedy. Kirsten was a lovely girl, so full of fun. My thoughts are with her family.”
Barry Gault wrote: “A valued member of the swimming club. Always smiling. We’ll all miss her greatly. RIP Kirsten x.”
