It’s the fourth of December: Advent calendars have been started and Christmas trees are going up.

And in Aberdeen’s city centre, the Christmas Village has once again taken over Union Terrace Gardens.

If you are planning a trip to this winter wonderland, here is everything you need to know for your visit.

WHAT IS THE CHRISTMAS VILLAGE?

The Christmas Village is a myriad fun and festive features.

In partnership with Aberdeen Inspired and delivered by Codona’s, this year’s open-air ice rink is even bigger than before. Plus there are double
the number of market stalls and the fairground rides and
entertainment marquee have returned also.

WHEN IS IT OPEN?

Opening on November 25, you can enjoy all the village offers until January 8.

The open-air ice rink is open Monday to Friday 11am – 10pm and Saturday and Sunday, 10am – 10pm.

The festive fairground rides are open from noon to 10pm Monday to Friday and 10am to 10pm at the weekend.

Refreshments are available noon – 10pm and market stalls are open 11am – 8pm Monday to Friday and 10am – 8pm Saturday and Sunday.

WHAT ROADS ARE CLOSED FOR THE VILLAGE?

The slip road from Rosemount Viaduct is now closed, as is Union Terrace itself.

WHERE CAN I PARK?

Visitors are being asked to park on whatever side of the city they are coming from to try and reduce the amount of traffic crossing the city centre.

There is a car park on Frederick Street and the part-time Marischal Street facility is also available.

The four disabled car park spaces on Union Terrace are to be moved and an extra two created: two on Diamond Street, two on Skene Terrace, and two on Rosemount Viaduct outside nos 41 to 45.

In addition, five disabled car parking spaces created on the inset road
at Schoolhill outside Robert Gordon’s College are to continue for the festive season.

The existing disabled bays on Back Wynd and Little Belmont Street will also be operational.
