Police are investigating an attempted ATM raid at a north-east supermarket.
The incident, on Mart Road in Alford, was reported to police at 6.40am this morning.
Officers are now on the scene and the surrounding area has been taped off.
While the ATM was not stolen, it was damaged in the incident.
Detective Inspector Norman Stevenson said: “I would appeal for any members of the public who saw or heard anything suspicious through the night in the area to contact police as soon as possible.”
A spokeswoman for Police Scotland added: “We would urge anyone with information to get in touch on 101 or call Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.”
