A north-east road in Aberdeen is due to re-open at midnight tonight six months after a fire partially destroyed a hotel.
Oldmeldrum Road in Bucksburn was closed in June after the blaze at the Britannia Hotel.
Work has been carried out at the former hotel building and after further investigations by a specialist demolition firm, it has been agreed the road can be re-opened.
An Aberdeen City Council spokeswoman said: “The road was closed to ensure public safety and we’re glad to say it can be re-opened after a site inspection following work that was carried out.
“The closure to Malcolm Road has been extended to allow for further demolition to the building. This is to ensure public safety is maintained in the area around the site, whilst minimising disruption to motorists and local residents.”
