A motorist has been charged after driving at double the legal alcohol limit in Aberdeen city centre.
The arrest was made as part of a three-day operation by north-east police to promote safety over the festive period.
The driver had been celebrating in the city centre the night before.
A number of other motorists were also stopped for offences such as driving while using a mobile phone, disobeying red lights and disobeying a box junction.
Sergeant Stuart Robinson said: “This highlights the risks involved in driving over the festive period if you have been celebrating the night before.
“It can take a long time for alcohol to leave the body after a heavy night out and a person can still be significantly over the legal limit when they wake up.
“It’s not worth the risk getting into your car after a night out to travel in the morning. I would urge the public to plan in advance to avoid it. Either use public transport, arrange a lift or even book the following day off work.”
