An investigation has been launched following a robbery at an Aberdeen newsagents.
The incident happened at Icon Stores in the city’s George Street at around 10pm on Saturday. A man showed staff a weapon and left with a low three figure sum of cash.
He is described as being in his thirties, around 5ft 6 and of a slim build. He was wearing a black tracksuit top with white ties and dark coloured jeans.
Detective Sergeant Stephen Beattie said: “Fortunately no one was injured during the incident, however the member of staff who was working at the time was left understandably shaken.
“This is the second incident reported to police in recent weeks involving the same premises which is an obvious concern. I would like to take this opportunity to reassure local people and the wider public that officers are doing everything possible to trace the individual involved, and that extensive inquiries are ongoing.
“I would urge anyone with information, or anyone who saw anyone suspicious in the area around the time in question, to contact Police on 101 as soon as possible or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111 if you would prefer to remain anonymous.”
It is the second time the store has been hit in a matter of months. It was robbed in the early hours of October 31 and a man was later charged in relation to the incident.
