Aberdeen singing star, Fiona Kennedy OBE, will perform at a special Burns Night celebration in January to raise cash for a quartet of north-east charities.
She will be joined by Paul Mealor, the Aberdeen University professor whose motet Ubi Caritas was performed at the royal wedding of Prince William and Katherine Middleton in 2011, the Rob Roy Ceilidh Band and award-winning actor John Bett at the Beach Ballroom on January 27 for the sixth annual Nae Ordinary Burns Supper.
This year, the popular ceilidh event has been given an American twist, and guests will be able to enjoy a whole range of musical fun to celebrate Scotland’s national bard.
The event will raise cash for VSA, the North East of Scotland Music School, the Camphill Wellbeing Trust and the University of Aberdeen Development Trust through a silent and live auction.
Celebrity guest auctioneer Natasha Raskin, from the BBC’s Antiques Road Trip, Bargain Hunt and Flog It will be bringing down the hammer to raise as much money as possible for the causes.
Ms Kennedy said: “I’m so happy that Nae Ordinary Burns Supper continues to go from strength to strength.
“I’ve always tried to make it unique, great fun and to raise money for local charities, including VSA, CWT, NESMS and research at the University of Aberdeen – who all do such wonderful work right on our doorstep.
“What can be better than celebrating our national bard, raising much-needed funds and having a ceilidh?”
Tickets for a handful of tables are still available, and individual tickets can also be purchased by emailing event organiser Laura Urquhart at office@pixieproductions.biz.
