Aberdeen’s Christmas Village on Union Terrace will not be cancelled following the tragic Berlin market attack, organisers have confirmed.
A lorry smashed into a crowd at the German market yesterday evening, killing at least 12 people and injuring 48.
But Aberdeen’s festive village and market will continue as planned, Aberdeen City Council and organisers Aberdeen Inspired have announced.
A spokeswoman for Aberdeen Inspired said: “We are saddened by the events in Berlin and our thoughts are with all those affected.
“We work closely with all partners, including Aberdeen City council and Police Scotland, to ensure a coordinated approach to safety and security – which is our highest priority with any public event in the city.
“All parties will follow advice on additional measures if required.”
The village will remain open until January 8.
