An ‘iconic’ Aberdeen pub has been saved from closure after a new owner stepped forward to take over the reigns.
Patrons feared the Glenatar Bar on Holburn Street would be forced to close for good after the company behind the venue, G&T’s Limited, went into administration.
Michael Reid, appointed administrator for the business’ affairs, confirmed a buyer had now been found.
He said: “I am delighted that interest in the Glenatar Bar was high and is the subject of a bid which will keep the business going and preserve employment of everyone who works there.
“It is an iconic bar in Aberdeen and it would have been sad to see it close. I hope that the preferred bidder will become the new owner/operator in January.”
The announcement will be welcome news for a struggling north-east hospitality industry.
The G&T’s other venture, The Inn at the Park Hotel, on Deemont Terrace, was forced to close in October and has also attracted interest from developers.
