Firefighters called to blaze at north-east high-rise

Firefighters were rushed to a blaze at an Aberdeen high-rise earlier today.
Four appliances were called to Virginia Court, in Aberdeen, just before noon following reports of a fire on the fifth floor.
Two fire teams from Aberdeen Central and another two from North Anderson Drive were called to the scene.
However the occupant of the flat managed to extinguish the blaze, described as “small”, before they arrived.
A fire and rescue spokeswoman said: “There was a wee fire on one of the high-rise block of flats. It was Virginia Court, it was a small fire on the fifth floor. It was extinguished by the occupant.
“We had four appliances there all from Aberdeen Central and North Anderson Drive. We got the call at 11.58am. the stop message was back at 12.09pm.”
