Police are hunting for a group of would-be thieves who attempted to break into garages in Aberdeen in the early hours of yesterday morning.
Residents of the West End of Aberdeen were woken by the sound of a motorist ramming his vehicle onto garage doors.
A black Audi was used to target properties on Great Western Road and Queen’s Lane South where the thieves are believed to have been trying to make off with vehicles inside.
Iain Landsman, who stays at Ashley Lodge on Great Western Road, had his garage targeted.
The 31-year-old chartered surveyor said: “My neighbour said he a heard bang, bang, bang and went outside to see what happened.
“He saw a black Audi reversing into the garage doors at the back of our apartments.
“That was between 3.30am and 4am.
“I was woken up by the police knocking on my door at the back of four.
“I have a black Audi myself and officers asked me to start the car and prove it hadn’t been damaged to show it wasn’t my car involved.”
He added that the garage doors were a recent instalment.
He said: “I got my door two months ago and another got put up just two weeks ago.
“The slot next to mine doesn’t even have a door but the car has not been touched.”
A police spokesman said: “We are appealing for witnesses to a number of attempted thefts from the West End of Aberdeen in the early hours of yesterday morning.
“There were no cars stolen, only attempts at thefts.
“We are appealing for anyone with information surrounding this activity to get in touch with police on 101.
“We have not yet identified any suspects in relation to these incidents.”
