A busy section of a north-east road will be permanently closed from next week to make way for the multimillion-pound Aberdeen bypass.
The Chapel of Stoneywood to Fairley Road will shut on Monday, in an area extending from north of the Kirkhill crossroads to within the vicinity of Craibstone Golf Course.
Transport Scotland officials have made the decision to allow the AWPR to be built through the closed section.
Motorists will now be forced to join the A96 Aberdeen to Inverness road by turning right onto Forrit Brae from the crossroads before taking a left turn onto the dual carriageway.
Those wishing to travel into Aberdeen on the A96 will need to continue up to the Craibstone roundabout where they can turn and rejoin the eastbound A96.
There will no longer be a right-hand turn onto Forrit Brae from the A96 and drivers will have to travel to the Bankhead roundabout and head back along the A96 to make a left-hand turn onto Forrit Brae.
Access to the Craibstone golf course will remain unaffected, southbound from Chapel of Stoneywood and northbound by turning left at the Kirkhill crossroads
Once the bypass section has been completed, the route will link up with the new bridge which will run from the A96 to west of the Craibstone Roundabout.
The developers said last night that news of the impending closure had been made public a number of years ago.
A spokesman for the bypass said: “Since the orders were published back in 2010, it has been well publicised a section of the C89C Chapel of Stoneywood to Fairley Road will have to permanently close as part of the AWPR/B-T works.
“The community liaison team has been informing affected local residents and the local business community of the upcoming permanent closure of this section of road.
“Road signs will also notify road users of this change to the layout.”
