Celebrity Chef Jamie Oliver’s Italian restaurant in Aberdeen will be among six around the country to close.
A total of 120 staff will be impacted by the decision, although the company said it will attempt to place those affected in other parts of Mr Oliver’s restaurant franchise.
As well as Aberdeen, his restaurants in Cheltenham, Exeter, Ludgate, Richmond and Tunbridge Wells will all close their doors in the first quarter of this year, the Jamie Oliver Restaurant Group has said.
Chief executive Simon Blagden said: “As every restaurant owner knows, this is a tough market and, post-Brexit, the pressures and unknowns have made it even harder.
““While our overall business is in very good shape – we finished last year with like-for-like sales growth and an increase in covers – because we refuse to compromise on the quality and provenance of our ingredients and our commitment to training and developing our staff, we need restaurants that can serve an average of 3,000 covers every week to be sustainable.”
The restaurant opened early in 2013 inside the old Esslemont and Macintosh premises, which closed in 2007.
Mr Oliver visited staff at the restaurant in October 2015.
