Councillors are expected to welcome more than 90 new affordable homes across the north-east this week.
Aberdeenshire Council will present a report on the new builds, part of a £40million Scottish Government scheme to increase the number of houses in the country, to members of its housing committee on Thursday.
In it, the local authority will ask for the views of councillors as it steps up efforts to provide “high quality” properties across the region.
The work follows on from last year, when the council created 189 new affordable properties in Aberdeenshire.
In the next phase of the project, which will run through 2018, 38 homes will be created in Peterhead.
Twelve will be built in Turriff and six will be constructed in Fraserburgh.
In his report director of infrastructure services Stephen Archer revealed new homes would also be built in Huntly, Oldmeldrum and Portlethen to bring the authority’s target to 95.
Work is expected to begin on the sites from next month.
Mr Archer added: “Officers will continue to pursue opportunities to deliver mid-market rent accommodation in Aberdeenshire, at a level and in locations where development viability can be supported, including Cameron Street, Stonehaven, and Blackhall Road, Inverurie.
“Meantime, officers continue to identify further opportunities to deliver affordable housing to secure optimal outcomes for the current and future years funding.”
In Peterhead, the proposed homes will be built in the Clerkhill area, where 210 houses have already been given planning permission.
Ten of the new homes in Turriff will be built on land at the former Erroll Court sheltered housing complex.
A further two will be created by subdividing a former Women’s Aid refuge at Meadowbank Place.
All of the proposed homes in Fraserburgh will be built at Castle Street.
Mr Archer said: “Assessments are underway to establish feasibility of redevelopment of an existing council housing site to provide additional, high quality homes to the area.
“Subject to confirmation on feasibility and receipt of all necessary consent, the development work could commence in September 2017.”
