Aberdeen City Council has voted unanimously to scrap plans to level an historic former school building.
The council’s planning committee moved to reject proposals to knock down the building, which has stood in Torry for 143 years.
Barratt North Scotland had put forward proposals to use the site to build flats at the site but last week city planners recommended members vote against demolition.
More than 550 public objections were sent to the council following two heated public hearings into the plans.
Contentions centred around the loss of granite heritage to the city along with overstretched local facilities if the proposals were to go ahead.
