Plans have been lodged to transform a former north-east hotel into a high-class boutique destination.
The Udny Arms hotel in Newburgh was sold in March 2015 to ECS Investments, who initially planned to turn the property into flats.
The new proposals are focused on a plush hotel, which will include 12 en-suite rooms and a manager’s flat.
The bedroom annexe of the building would be converted into two houses while a further five townhouses would also be developed.
A statement from ECS Investments said: “The proposals would reduce the scale of the hotel and refurbish the original buildings to provide a five-star boutique hotel.”
The hotel is the reputed birthplace of sticky toffee pudding and was formerly owned and operated by Oxford Hotels and Inns.
It closed in 2013 after significant flood damage and re-opened later in the same year.
