One of the main concerns about Aberdeen FC’s proposed move to Kingsford revolves around parking space on match days.
The Dons have submitted a planning application to Aberdeen City Council for a 20,000-seater stadium and training complex at the 61-acre site between Kingswells and Westhill.
Included in the proposals are 1600 car parking spaces at the site and an additional 600 at the Arnhall Business Park.
There is also provision for buses and coaches to drop off supporters at games as well as cycle parking spaces.
However, some people are sceptical about whether these measures will be enough to ensure cars are do not end up being parked in residential areas when Aberdeen are in action.
Clare Davidson from the No Kingsford Stadium group said: “There are huge traffic and parking concerns
“How the club deals with those concerns we’re not entirely sure, but they are under review by our traffic consultant.”
John Gerrie, chair of Kingswells Community Council, added: “Traffic concerns are always an issue with developments.
“There has been a gradual increase in the amount of traffic using the A944 between Kingswells and Westhill.
“We will have to see what the traffic assessments says in respect to the amount of vehicles that will be going into and coming out of the proposed site and seeing how that will affect future use of that particular road.”
However, Aberdeen vice-chairman George Yule was quick to reassure doubters.
He said: “We do not want to be bad neighbours. One thing we are actively looking to mitigate is the number of rogue parkers parking in the residential area of Westhill.
“We are looking to mitigate that through a blend of public transport, parking on site and car parking off-site.
“We are looking at other areas in the locality with a view to having either park and ride or park and walk spaces.”
