The vehicle, a silver BMW, was found in Buchanhaven, near Peterhead at about 11.30pm last night. UPDATED: ‘No reason to suspect anyone is in the water’: Car found hanging off north-east pier The car has been left with the handbrake off, parked lengthways with one side veering off the pier. Police and fire crews, including two appliances and two water response units from Elgin and Inverness, were called to the scene. However, officers have said they do not believe anyone was in the water. Police have managed to track down the owner but it was not clear how the car had ended up parked in that position. A spokeswoman for the force said: “There is no reason to suspect that anyone is in the water. “We are speaking to the registered keeper just now but it is not clear how the car ended up there.”
