Councillors will next week be urged to move forward with plans to reduce the speed limit on two busy Aberdeen roads.
The local authority is currently seeking to reduce the limits on the A944 Kingswells to Lang Stracht road, and the B9119 Kingswells to Hazlehead road from 50mph to 40mph.
Members of the communities, housing and infrastructure committee were urged to make the changes due to increased development in the area, including the upcoming Countesswells and Den of Maidencraig projects.
A report to councillors also argued that drivers are currently being faced with confusion due to the changing speed limits in a small area, and the new system would simplify the situation.
But the plans have resulted in a number of objections from Aberdeen residents who live close to and use the roads.
One objection said: “I am unable to find any proper justification put forward in this proposal.
“The design and layout of the roads is more than adequate for the existing speed limit.
“It is insulting to motorists to proceed on the basis that they are unable to cope with changes in speed limits.”
The proposal will be discussed at next week’s communities, housing and infrastructure meeting.
