A north-east playgroup has been praised by the Care Inspectorate for its continued improvement.
Maud Playgroup was visited by the inspectorate earlier this month and has been hailed by officers for developing a vision for the children in its care.
The group was last visited in 2015, when it was branded “satisfactory” by inspectors Peter Gollogly and Maureen Mathieson.
At the time, staff were asked to develop learning for the children in line with the Curriculum for Excellence.
Yesterday, Mr Gollogly published his updated findings.
He said: “Since the last inspection, staff, the management committee and the wider parent group have developed a new vision, valued and aims for the setting.
“Staff have worked hard to improve the environment for children’s learning.”
Changes to the building itself have also taken place, including a new layout to the playroom and the purchase of new resources including computers to improve the children’s learning and play.
Staff, too, have been afforded development opportunities.
“This has resulted in a significant change in staff views on how children learn, from the original inspection,” Mr Gollogly added.
“Staff now have a clearer understanding of how children learn and develop and are providing better opportunities for this to take place.”
Staff have been encouraged to continue to build on their skills through the early levels of the Curriculum of Excellence.
