A construction firm has offered a reward for information after thieves stole a six-tonne tractor worth about £30,000 from a north-east building site.
The McCormick MTX135 machine was taken from near the Muir Homes development in the Waterside Road area of Peterhead.
A bowser power washer was also stolen.
Earthworks firm Ground Developments, which owns the vehicle, has now offered a £1,500 reward for information which leads to the recovery of the tractor.
Detectives are also investigating the incident.
Last night, Ground Developments managing director, Kevin Menzies, said: “We were disappointed to learn that one of our tractors was stolen over the weekend.
“We are working hard to ready the site at West Road for new housing development and this theft has caused an unwelcome disruption to our operations.
“But we are hopeful with the public’s help we stand some chance of recovering our machinery.”
The McCormick MTX135 tractor – with the registration number RX06 XVY – is about 10 years old.
Investigating officer Detective Constable Richard Cooper said: “Inquiries are ongoing and I would appeal for anyone with information to contact police on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111 if you would prefer to remain anonymous.”
He added: “We are lucky to live in an area with relatively low levels of crime, however it’s vital to not become complacent.
It is thought the tractor and bowser were stolen between the afternoon of Saturday, January 21 and the morning of Monday, January 23
In a separate incident in October a farmer from the Banchory area reported a £70,000 tractor stolen from his property.
