A 30-year-old has been charged with attempted murder following an alleged attack in Peterhead.
A man was found seriously injured in the Peter Buchan Drive area of the town and was rushed to hospital in Aberdeen.
It is understood the 56-year-old was put on life support while medics assessed his condition, which was has been described as “serious”.
Police believe he was injured in the early hours of Thursday, but the alarm was not raised until about 4.30pm that day.
Now police have confirmed a 30-year-old man had been charged with attempted murder in relation to the incident.
He is expected to appear in Peterhead Sheriff Court on Monday.
Detective Inspector Stewart Drummond, who is leading the investigation, said: “I’d like to thank the public for their patience while we have carried out our enquiries into this incident.
“This was an isolated incident and I’d like to reassure the community that there was no wider threat to the public.”
