Scores of residents affected by Aberdeen’s bypass are expected to attend a “long overdue” public meeting with Scotland’s transport minister today.
Humza Yousaf will meet with residents affected by the AWPR at the Sanctuary, Cults Paris Church this evening.
The meeting has been organised by the north-east’s Tory MSPs who have been calling on Mr Yousaf to come to the region and hear the concerns of people who live close to the new road
Run-off from the construction site polluting the River Dee and the provision of a pedestrian bridge across the Deeside Way are among the topics up for discussion.
Landowners have also sought compensation for damage to fields as a result of the construction work.
Milltimber couple John and Sheena Bevan will be among those in attendance.
The couple previously complained about fencing spoiling the scenery.
In a joint statement they said: “The demolition of houses and felling of trees have altered the character of our neighbourhood irreversibly.
“In addition noise, ground vibration and dust from the AWPR construction have been very difficult for residents on the frontline.
“A face-to-face meeting between a Scottish Transport Minister and Aberdeen residents is long overdue and we look forward to Mr Yousaf’s visit.”
In December, it was revealed the Balmedie-Tipperty section of the route would now not be completed until the end of this year or the beginning of 2018.
