Aberdeen residents, interested in becoming independent councillors, have been invited to a public meeting this week.
Scotland will go to the polls in May to elect members to local authorities across the country.
A community organisation called i4A has now been formed in the Granite City which aims to bring new blood to the town house – but the group has insisted it is not a political party.
A spokesman said: “i4A, is a new community action group of volunteers who believe that now is the time for more public involvement in local government, by encouraging people to stand as independent candidates for Aberdeen City Council.
“We are not a political party. Supporters have personal views across the political spectrum.
“In recent years, there have been a series of decisions taken by Aberdeen City Council, which have been questioned by large numbers of people who live in Aberdeen. Councillors have at times appeared to take decisions influenced more by party politics than the people who elected them.
“i4A want to help dilute, and ideally eliminate, the influence of party politics in Aberdeen City Council.”
The meeting will be held in meeting room 2 in the Town House on Thursday at 6.30pm.
