A former Aberdeen City Council leader has been appointed to a top post on a national pension forum.
Barney Crockett was reappointed to the notational executive committee of the Local Authority Pensions Fund Forum (LAPFF) at its meeting in London.
Mr Crockett said that board members were having an increasing influence on the workings of companies with the LAPFF able to put pressure on issues such as executive pay.
The Labour councillor for Dyce, Bucksburn and Danestone said: “We look at things like tax transparency, executive pay and people’s shareholder rights in major companies.
“Because of our leverage we are often invited to send representatives to AGMs and the shareholders usually listen to us.”
