Eight men have been charged with possession of controlled drugs as part of a police crackdown in Aberdeen City Centre at the weekend.
On Friday, January 27 and Saturday, January 28, officers carrying out an intelligence-led operation stopped and searched 17 people.
Eight of them were found to have personal quantities of acid, cannabis, cannabis resin, cocaine or ecstasy on their persons.
Reports on the eight men, who are aged 18 to 40, will be sent to the Procurator Fiscal.
Sergeant Mark Young, of the Aberdeen City Centre local policing team said: “The use of illegal drugs will not be tolerated and operations such as this send a clear message to city centre revellers.
“Licensees and staff take a robust approach to tackle the issue, and work closely with local officers to ensure their premises are drug-free.
“The use of controlled drugs causes people to act in an unpredictable manner, which could result in them being a danger to themselves and others. Similar operations will take place in the future and we will continue to keep the city centre safe.”
