More than 200 claims for compensation have been lodged with Aberdeen City Council over the baby ashes scandal.
Solicitors representing 205 families have come forward after baby and adult ashes were mixed together at the crematorium and given back to relatives of the adult.
Parents of the infants were told no ashes were recovered and many staff believed this was standard practice, despite them being available from other crematoriums.
Council chief Angela Scott acknowledged in a later report the scandal had a “profound effect” on public trust and confidence in the local authority.
The deadline for claims was yesterday afternoon and a number of last minute cases have come forward.
Council bosses confirmed today the terms of compensation packages offered will remain confidential as agreed by Aberdeen City Council and Thompsons Solicitors, the firm representing many of the families involved.
An Aberdeen City Council spokesperson said: “The date set for compensation claims has now passed and the process will progress to the next stage, with consideration given to all claims and those who have made representations being kept fully informed.”
